Writing Program Administration
As a WPA, I draw from my expertise in rhetoric and writing, as well as my dedication to using inquiry as a tool to bring speakers and writers together to achieve shared goals. Throughout my experiences carrying out curriculum, assessment, and mentoring work, I have valued building relationships around inquiring into student needs in order to design inclusive programs adapted to meet those needs. At the undergraduate level, I have written curricular materials and assessments that invite students to position their prior knowledge and experience as a resources to draw from while experimenting with diverse writing strategies and composing processes. When developing programs at the graduate level, I consult graduate students across the disciplines in order to identify areas where they need support. This approach led me to develop workshops that offered explicit instruction on writing milestones common across disciplines. Ultimately, I view writing program administration as a vital role in shaping outcomes within communities of writers.
